In a busy offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers made significant changes to the secondary under defensive coordinator, Terrell Austin.

Veterans Darius Slay, Jalen Ramsey, and Brandon Eccles were all brought in to help Joey Porter Jr. shore up some passing game struggles.

talked time and time again about acquiring those three veterans and that the Steelers could

match up man-to-man against anyone in the NFL. Those moves had one specific team in mind,

the Cincinnati Bengals with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins. Now, the Steelers will get their first crack at the

Bengals on Thursday night football. Joe Burrow won't be under center, but Joe Flacco offers a sound

option for the Bengals as a quarterback, giving them a guy that can get the ball to the two-star receivers.

The Steelers are healthy in the secondary, though, and they believe they're built for this type of

matchup.

We'll see what the coverage and responsibilities are Thursday night, but there are no real excuses for the secondary against the Bengals. This is what they were brought in for. This is why

the Steelers went out of their way to spend big money on Slay and make a shocking trade for Ramsey.

Time for them to step up and show decision makers within the franchise that they made

the right decision going with age and experience in the offseason to help have an answer within

the division.
