Before news picked up as the Steelers began OTA practices Tuesday, the PPG's Jerry Dulac made a comment in passing,

not expecting the team to retire quarterback Terry Bradshaw's number 12 jersey anytime soon. It's rare for Pittsburgh

to officially hang a jersey in the rafters, to date only three had. Ernie Stoughtner's number 70,

Joe Green's number 75, and Franco Harris's 32. Waiting to honor Bradshaw is a mistake by Pittsburgh.

He has rightfully earned his jersey to be retired.

Unofficially, it's no longer issued for obvious reasons, a four-time Super Bowl winner and two-time MVP,

not to mention a Hall of Famer. But delaying Bradshaw's moment will only lead to regret.

Sad as it is to say, the 70 Steelers aren't getting younger. Bradshaw turned 77 this September. I know the Steelers want to be careful. Retire Bradshaw's number and the same questions we'll get asked about Swan, Starworth, Blunt, and the like. But Bradshaw was the quarterback. He was the face, and it would be a great way

to mend any tension between the team and Bradshaw, even if the relationship has improved, seemingly,

over the years. The Steelers have to let go any potential bitterness with Bradshaw they might

have from him skipping Chuck Noel and Dan Rooney's funerals.

Let bygones be bygones.

Honor these players while they're still around to be part of the celebration.

Franco wasn't there to see his.

Don't let it happen again.
