As we get closer to the NFL draft, the Steelers roster is still lacking a clear starting quarterback.

Aaron Rogers has yet to accept or reject the contract that the Steelers offered him.

While Mason Rudolph is certainly capable of starting week one,

it is becoming more and more likely that the Steelers will draft a quarterback this year as well, especially when you consider

the team's list of players that have visited Pittsburgh to meet with the coaching staff and GM.

Known as the top 30 visits, the list is often a good predictor of what the Steelers will do in the

draft. Four of the team's

seven drafted rookies were on that list in 2024, as well as Beanie Bishop, who was signed as an

undrafted free agent. And the number of visitors in each position group shows the level of

interest as well. Last year, the team brought in six offensive tackles and selected one of them,

Troy Fautano, in the first round. They hosted

three centers, including second round pick, Zach Frazier. Seven wide receivers came for invited

visits. Although Roman Wilson wasn't one of them, the team did go with him in the third round.

Looking at this year's list of invited players, it's clear that defensive line and running

back are targeted

positions in the 2025 draft, as they should be. The Steelers have also brought in four quarterbacks

to date, including Colorado's Shadur Sanders, who will almost certainly be a high pick in the first

round this year. Fans are divided on whether the Steelers should spend a first round draft pick on a

quarterback who isn't a sure bet to be the franchise quarterback for years to come.

The team missed badly, taking Kenny Pickett at number 20 just three years ago.
