Consider the tush push well pushed.

The NFL tabled the discussion regarding the much maligned tush push Tuesday at the league's owners meetings due to no clear consensus on how and if it should be banned.

This whole thing regarding the tush push seems like a giant waste of time.

Yes, it's an ugly looking play, and yes, it could lead to some injuries in the rugby like scrub.

But at its core, that's what football is.

It's about pushing the other player off the spot and trying to gain a yard with leverage,

or stopping them from gaining that yard with leverage.

If it were a cheap play that weakens the game in any way, every team would be able to do it successfully.

Yet, only one team can really do it consistently.

And it's the Philadelphia Eagles.

They've perfected it.

They were innovative and came up with it for short yardage plays.

You shouldn't punish innovation in a level playing field like football.

It's not as if they are bending the rules with the formation

or trying to be deceptive in any way.

It's about brute force and strength, and they're darn good at it.

Nobody has successfully figured out a way to stop it.

So, of course, the move has been made to try and ban it.

That's silly.
