Welcome to The Terrible Take, a daily segment telling Steelers Nation what's on our mind.

I'm Alex Kizora. It's been the Pittsburgh Steelers story for days,

and it's not even true. Late last week, a report came out indicating Pittsburgh called Jacksonville

about quarterback Trevor Lawrence. At the least, they were checking in to see if he was available,

and on the surface,

unusual, but not out of the entire realm of possibility. Calling never hurts, and the Jags have a new regime. Perhaps they were open to conversation. But quickly, within a couple hours, the initial

story was refuted, repeatedly and unequivocally, by the Steelers' local media,

by the Jaguars' local media, by multiple members of the national media, including Tom Pelliserro

and Adam Schaefter, not just that the Jags had zero interest in trading Lawrence, but the Steelers

never called. And yet, so many national media

outlets, including NFL Network and ESPN, are still talking about it. The worst offender is pro football

talks Mike Floreo, who's never met a pot he didn't want to stir, but he's far from the only one.

It became a national headline with the reports of it not being true hardly or sometimes

never mentioned.

And I'm not sure which is worse, omitting the part where the report has been debunked or

doing so and then still talking about it like it's true.
