Let's talk about a new name to be the Pittsburgh Steelers

next quarterback, and no, it's not Trevor Lawrence. What about Miami, Florida's Cam Ward, one of the

top two arms in this year's draft? Bad quarterback class? Yeah, that's fair to say, though I'd argue this

easily outpaces 2022. But I would say this class is short on first round arms, not devoid of them

entirely. So if the Steelers scout and love Cam Ward, and who knows if they do, why not try to go

get him? If the solution to pushing this franchise forward is to

draft a quarterback in the first round, and I believe that it is, why is the possibility

discounted so out of hand? It will take a lot to pull the move off, sure, but it's not like

Ward is the slam dunk number one overall pick. It's possible he falls

if teams aren't sold and they take Penn States Abdul Carter and Colorado's Travis Hunter instead.

Now, it's fair to wonder why those teams would pass over Ward clearly thinking he's not the

answer, but all that matters is what Pittsburgh thinks, and if they're a fan,

they should make the push to get him. They have the money to spend in free agency to address

other needs and could get a couple comp picks for 2026, easing the pain of whatever the trade-up

costs for a quarterback would be. Now, I'm not saying it's the got-to-do-it answer,

but this is the mindset Pittsburgh has to start putting themselves in.
