Welcome to The Terrible Take, a daily segment telling Steelers Nation what's on our mind.

I'm Ross McCorkle. It was another disappointing end to another disappointing season, yet this

time feels a little different. In the past, you could rationalize that they didn't have the right

quarterback, or they didn't have the serious offensive coordinator, or that the defense was ravaged

by injuries. All three of those things were very true in 2023, for example, yet they still finished

10 and 7 and snuck into the playoffs.

Surely with an upgraded offensive coordinator, a quarterback with Super Bowl experience,

and mostly good health in 24 on defense, things would be different.

Yet they still finished 10 and 7, and they still lost in blowout fashion

in the playoffs. The more things changed, the more they have stayed the same. So where does that leave

the team now? What are the levers that are left to pull? Go get another quarterback? Okay,

who? Wilson and Fields could very well be their best and most realistic options, since they have

the 21st pick of the draft,

and the free agent crop isn't very enticing this year either. Are they going to ditch Mike Tomlin?

Reports are already indicating that this isn't the case. So it seems like the Steelers are stuck

somewhere in the middle, where their best bed is to stay the course. And the course is tumultuous

at the moment. Staying the course could end in total disaster.

The issue is the best parts of this team are getting older and they can't be counted on forever.

Cam Hayward had a great year. It's hard to doubt him moving forward, but he is 35 years old.

T.J. Watt is over 30. Is there enough promising young talent to make up for the eventual changing

of the guard?
