Steelers kicker Chris Boswell was named the Pro Bowl yesterday the second time of his career. Well deserved, clearly, for having a

historically good season in NFL history. He was finally able to step out of Justin Tucker's

shadow. The next question is, can he step out of Brandon

Aubrey's? Aubrey, if you don't know, is the Dallas Cowboys big-legged kicker having an impressive

season himself, but there's only one kicker slot for the All-Pro team, the first team. Will

Bois get it? He could. He should, but I don't know if he will.

Aubrey was first team pro last year, and that's big. Like offensive linemen, once those guys get a

spot, it's hard to boot them out until they clearly fade or get hurt. Aubrey did not have that

kind of regression, so can Boss beat out his reputation?

Fun fact, no Steelers kicker has ever been named for Team All-Pro. Boswell has as strong a case as

any for that position, but it's going to take a lot to beat Aubrey out, just knowing how voters vote.

Perhaps the best thing Boswell can do,

even if it's not necessarily the best thing for the team, is to make at least four field goals this weekend against the Bengals. That would tie David Akers for the all-time mark in a

single season with 44. Five, to hold the record himself, would of course be even better.

I worry that's the only path for Boswell to make it.

We won't know all pros for about another week,

but I'm afraid we'll be disappointed by the final results.
