Last year, the lack of leadership for the Steelers' offense was the talk of the sports world.

Steelers were just kicking off their three-game loss streak.

This time, last year, and much of it was blamed on the leadership void, particularly on offense. Everybody was

talking about how the Steelers way was fading. Mac Canada wasn't getting it done. Offensive captain

Kenny Pickett wasn't getting it done either. There were a few players doing their best, but overall

it was a mess. With Russell Wilson in town, that story really can't be written anymore. Yeah, George Pickens

will go rogue from time to time, but that is an individual player rather than indicative of a

larger issue. Wilson is a team captain for the 12th year in a row in his career, and those leadership

qualities show the way the offense operates. The key will be making sure the team doesn't waste his

leadership, not only for their results now, but for the future of the team. Mike Tomlin said he hopes

everyone on the team is observing the professionalism of guys like Russell Wilson and Cam Hayward.

The key will be building a leadership core now while they have a great example to look at

to make their next quarterback transition

easier. It seems pretty likely that Wilson will return next season, but it's impossible to say,
