Something new we've done this year on Steelers Depos track the details of the officiating crew calling each Pittsburgh Steelers game. We were aware of it

before, but usually didn't get a feel for their exact style, how many penalties they called,

what they did, and didn't flag most often, the frequency the home team

won, and the results from the previous Steelers games in which that crew worked.

And that stuff is important. Pittsburgh is not just scouting their opponent at Cincinnati

Bengals this weekend. They're scouting the referee and their crew. Like an offense or defense,

they have their own tendencies. Obviously,

this is a lot less nuanced and requires far less time to investigate. We're not worried about how

fluid Cleet Blakeman's hips are, but it's a component of game planning. And some of the
