This isn't about Justin Fields versus Russell Wilson, though.

I wrote a post earlier in the week with my thoughts on that.

Instead, I want to talk about the quarterback matchup we will actually see on Sunday night

when the Steelers take on the New York Jets.

All week long, all I heard was that Mike Tomlin was crazy to start Russell Wilson a quarterback.

He's old, he's not mobile, he was awful in Denver with the brilliant offensive mastermind Sean Payton

as his head coach and better receivers than he has on the

Steelers roster. Most of the talking heads of the national media are predicting a

disaster in his first game this season. Let's start with age. Russell Wilson is 35 years old.

He will turn 36 in late November.

Three days later, Aaron Rogers, the starting quarterback of the Jets,

will turn 41.

They each have a Super Bowl in many awards along the way and neither player is who

he was at his peak. Let's look at recent past performances. One big criticism of Wilson

is that he takes too many sacks. In his

final year in Denver, Wilson was sacked 45 times. Through six games this

season, Rogers has been sacked 16 times. On pace for 45 sacks this season, exactly the same as Wilson.
