Leading up to Week 5's game against the Dallas Cowboys, I was viewing it like an audition game for Justin Field's permanent quarterback one job.

Mike Tomlin finally showed signs of changing his tune last Tuesday

when he said there is potential for Fields to be the hot hand even when Russell Wilson

is healthy, but they weren't quite there yet.

When asked what it would take for fields to prove that,

Tomlin said win.

With Wilson, seemingly set to be fully healthy for week six,

that meant that pressure was on for fields

to continue the strong progression he showed

over the first four weeks.

There was no bigger stage than Sunday night football against the Dallas Cowboys to prove it.

It was likely one of the most watch games of the season.

Unfortunately for Fields he had the worst game of his brief time with the Steelers so far.

He had two touchdowns to zero interceptions,

but he only accounted for 158 yards of total offense and he had at least three plays

that could have been turnovers that he got pretty lucky on.

Things could have looked much worse for him and they still ended up looking pretty bad.

The Steelers brought Russell Wilson in to raise the floor of play for the position,

his experience in his track record as a quarterback in the league

earned him the pole position that he was given and he was named the starter and voted a team
