Earlier this week, Ross McCorkle did a great job laying out the bind the Pittsburgh Steelers

repeated injuries to their offensive line have created,

that it threatens their identity they strive for all off season.

All of that is true and from a professional and football aspect it's an anchor weighing down this team

But I want to talk about the personal

James Daniels out for the season with the torn Achilles a freak accident of him stepping wrong and going down against the

colts. It's a whole the team will have trouble filling. But for Daniels, just to a man, it sucks so much. A guy in a contract year months away from

pre-agency in March where he would have cashed in big time for a guard market

that's more than doubled since he signed with Pittsburgh three years ago.

In the prime of his career in line for a major payday,

and he was having a strong start of the season, arguably his best ever.

He showed more aggression and intensity as a run blocker and had been sturdy in Pass Pro.

Though a lower bar because of all the injuries he had been his team's best offensive linemen

and the NFL was going to recognize and pay that

assuming the Steelers were not. Now his future is uncertain. Who will he play for

and how much has his market value taken a hit.

On an Achilles injury, it could be substantial.

Sure, we have seen injured players still get paid,

but Dupree is an example,

but it's a cloud of uncertainty over Daniel's future, a good dude and good football player,
