Too old, too washed up, to injure, those were so many of the Knox against Kim Hayward I heard over the off season.

Not from everyone, mind you, I don't want to pretend that most dealer fans had turned against him.

But there were many who were ready to move on as he advocated for himself and a new deal,

one he got just ahead of the 2024 season opener.

In what a week one Kim Hayward had. He was his typical dominant self against the Falcons.

After a tough first drive for the whole run defense,

Hayward and company tightened up and shut Bijon Robinson down

the rest of the way.

Hayward was excellent on tape, controlling his gap, getting off of blocks,

and making three solo tackles,

including a crucial stop on third and two.

I credited Hayward with two pressures, and he nearly had a sack, although Moncervous

Adams just beat him to the punch.

And for those who care about what PFF has to say, which I know is not everyone, Hayward

graded out as the second best overall defense alignment

of the week and the number one against the run for the entire NFL.

No matter how you slice it, Hayward did not look his age or last year's injury.

Is that a guarantee he'll play that well the rest of the season?

No, but it's not a concern of mine.

Hayward has not limped to the finish line before except for last year when he literally was limping.
