I'm Josh Carney. It was largely expected, but the Pittsburgh Steelers named four captains

Monday as players voted quarterback Russell Wilson, defensive linemen Cameron Hayward, outside linebacker

TJ Watt and safety Miles Kilibru as the team's captains for the 2024 season.

While again it was largely expected with all four it's still rather remarkable to see

those four named captains considering the amount of experience they bring to the table from

a captain's new standpoint in the NFL.

Watt and Kilibru are entering their fourth and third seasons as captains in the NFL,

respectively. While Hayward was named a captain for a 10th straight year in the black and gold.

That's incredible. Then there's Wilson who earned his 12th straight year as a captain in the NFL out of 13 total.

That includes nine seasons in Seattle.

Two in Denver and now his first season in Pittsburgh.

The only season of Russell Wilson's career,

he has not been a team captain.

That was his rookie year when he was going from a third round pick

to the starting quarterback in training camp.

Combined, the four bring 29 years of captain's experience to the table.

That's rather impressive overall.

In the past, there have been questions about leadership for the Steelers since Ben

Rothberger retired. They've had some leadership on defense with the likes of

Hayward, Watt, and even safety mink if it's Patrick. But that leadership hasn't always been there offensively.

So it speaks volumes that the team went with the established player
