I'm Alex Kazora. Part of me wants to react to yesterday's Pittsburgh Steelers cut down,

share my thoughts on the roster construction but I know it's

going to change and shift and by the time you hear this some information might be

outdated I just can't see, for example, this team carrying eight defensive linemen on their

53-man roster heading in the week one. That's at least one too many.

So instead, let's take a larger view and put some perspective to

what Tuesday meant. Cutdowns is an exciting day for you and me seeing how the

Steelers cut, keep, if they make any traits, how they build

out that initial roster.

But it's a stressful day for any bubble player in that Steelers building or around the NFL.

Pittsburgh practiced just before cut-downs ended,

meaning some players probably hit the field not knowing,

or some probably guessing, this would be their last time doing so.

Over 1100 players have been cut the last 48 hours and that is not easy.

The one downside to the change I support of the NFL going

straight from 90 to 53 instead of cuts in between. It's a great day for those who make

it so even then their roster spots aren't completely on firm ground

But just remember it's the day many players dread as they wait for the Turk to tap them on the shoulder

and let them though coach wants to see them in their office.

As much as we analyze and crunch the numbers, this is still a sport built on relationships
