In a rather busy off season, moves have happened for the Pittsburgh Steelers

at a pretty dizzying rate. Players have come and gone quickly, positions have been

upgraded, and anticipation has been heightened for the Steelers. One move seems to be dragging on though, and it's getting a bit curious as to why and what will happen.

I am referring to the play-by-play job for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a position that has been held down by just three men in franchise history,

Joe Tucker, Jack Fleming, and Bill Hillgrove.

Hillgrove, of course, retired after 30 years on February 29th, creating a sizable hole for the franchise, one that has yet to be filled.

Two logical candidates to replace Hillgrove are Katie Kay's Bob Pompeii Annie, who does play-by-play on TV for the Steelers in the

preseason, and AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh's Rob King, who has done work for the Steelers in the past,

including calling games on the radio.

Replacing Hillgrove after 30 years, that's no easy task.

But the play-by-play job, as the voice of the Steelers, should be a coveted role, one that should have plenty of

candidates. Maybe the Steelers are just doing their due diligence in an effort to nail

it once again with the voice of the Steelers. But the longer this thing drags out, the more concerning it gets.

Players report to training camp in a month.

I'll say that again, players report to training camp in a month.

The first preseason game is just 43 days away.

There is still no voice of the Steelers.

Time to get moving on the play-by-play hire.
