As mandatory mini camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers comes to an end, the focus shifts to

training camp for the Black and Gold, which will get underway July 25th at St. Vincent College in late rope.

For now, the league enters into a bit of a dead period, making things rather slow.

But it also happens to be trope season. Largely, that means people are going to be

hyped up, talked about an exciting fashion, and more. Put second-year Steelers defensive tackle Keownanu Benton in that category, especially after the comments that defensive coordinator Terrell Austin made Wednesday.

Austin stated to reporters that the sky is the limit for Benton entering his second season in the

NFL. After a very strong rookie season that saw him play 483 snaps, Flash is a dominant

pass Russia with impressive power and burst and

really handle a larger role for the Steelers due to Cameron Hayward's injury

expectations are increased for the Wisconsin product.

Following the end of the 20-23 season,

head coach Mike Tomlin said Benton has the chance to be dominant quickly

and then said earlier this week that Benton better be better with experience.

Hayward even said recently that Benton has his legs underneath him now in the NFL

and is comfortable in the scheme all while stepping up as a bit of a leader for the defense. The defensive line outside of Hayward has been a

bit of a problem in the last few years, with some guys underperforming. Benton has a real opportunity

in front of him in year two to kick the door down, becoming that potential

stalwart for the Steelers and potentially taking the defense to another level in the process.

Excitement is sky high surrounding Benton right now as it should be.

He's the player I can't wait to see most in training camp.
