I'm Alex Kazora. I don't put a ton of stock into what happens in the spring. So much changes from OTA's and mini-camp to

training camp in preseason. The intensity ramps up, the pads come on and we see

who looks good when it's not just shorts and helmets. However, wide receivers coach

Zach Zani made a notable comment speaking to reporters Tuesday. In one of the few times

this year we get to hear from positional coaches,

Zani heaped praise on wide receiver Calvin Austin the third.

He noted serious progression the last two months,

complementing his work ethic and attention to detail.

2024 is certainly a big year for Austin who is not a roster lock.

But for Razzani, a tough love coach critical of the group during other portions of the interview, these comments

should be taken more than other cliche machine coaches.

Zani is not that guy.

Austin could enter camp with a leg up and a coach in his

corner. There's still a long ways to go, as on he said as much, and Austin probably

will not be a central element to this offense even in a best case scenario. But it bodes well for us to see

what a ceiling might actually be. He's clearly making the most of that chance.
