Kim Hayward was a welcome site back at Steelers' O-TAs on Tuesday and frankly, to me me a surprising one. No one knew what was in Hayward's

head or what his plan was but I figured he was going to show up next week for

mandatory mini camp not this week's final set of voluntary

O TAs not after skipping the first two weeks. So the question is why show up?

Obviously he wants to be around football and his teammates as a leader of the defensive line in one of the faces of the team

But I view this as a sign a good faith to the front office.

Hayward sent his message I want a new deal and you're going to feel that by my

absence and the story it creates. But Hayward is not going to weaponize things either.

Message sent, message received, now it's time to move forward. Does that mean a

deal gets done soon? Hayward does not seem to be expecting it, but his goal of getting a deal

done before the season begins has not shifted.
