I'm Josh Carney.

With new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith now in the fold and calling the shots for the Steelers

offensively, the excuses and the lack of accountability from past

seasons are out the window. It's put up or shut up time for the Steelers offense.

Right or wrong, that includes includes third year wide receiver Calvin

Austin the third as well. The 2023 season looked like a real opportunity for

Austin to break out and early on in the season his 72 yard touchdown against the Las Vegas Raiders

showed signs that that breakout was coming especially after a really productive pre-season but then

Austin disappeared. He wasn't a factor after that, much at all. Now entering the 2024 season with questions regarding depth and impact at receiver, Austin has a real opportunity in front

of him to seize upon some playing time and produce offensively, especially with quarterback

Russell Wilson in the fold, who happens to love to throw the deep ball.

That is Austin's strength right now.

He has said during OTA's that the game has slowed down for him. So if that's the case, it's

time for him to take a significant step forward and prove he's an NFL caliber receiver.
