Though the Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for rookie mini camp, let's talk about a veteran.

The team agreed to a deal with wide receiver Scotty Miller Wednesday, making him the third

low-level vet-agent wide-out, the teams added this off season following Van Jefferson

and Quiz Watkins.

And it's presumably at the time of this recording a one-year deal for the minimum. That seems like a safe bet for a guy who caught

all of 11 passes last season. Miller is fast and versatile and he could make the

53 but it's a redundant add to the room.

Watkins, Jefferson, and Miller are all the same caliber of player, backups, not starters.

In Miller is much like Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson.

There's not much separation in their skill sets.

You can't even argue a change of scenery, usually the go-to-line

to instill hope in a new player.

He's just following Arthur Smith who barely used him in

2023. I'm sure the Steelers still have aspirations of making a big wide

receiver splash. This does not prevent that clearly. In competition is good and healthy

and they'll go to camp and let the best men win. But at some point they gotta stop adding more

of the same. St stockpiling the roster with number four, five receiver types talk about diminishing returns.

And I'm not entirely sure what the team's goal here is, especially after letting other more

notable free Asian receivers like Michael Gallup, DJ Chark, and even Ode Beckham

Jr. sign elsewhere without any reported interest.
