I'm Alex Kazora. The NFL ended its impending 18 game regular season schedule conversation has drum back up after Commissioner

Roger Grudell during the draft expressed his preference and hope to tack on another

game. We all know it's coming. It's a matter of when, not if. New reports indicate the

League could make the push within 24 months instead of waiting until the CBA expires

at the end of the decade.

In discussing the 18 game season on Pat McAfee show, Goudel said he doesn't like the pre-season

and turned to the crowd and asked them if they felt the same, greeted by some, eh, my old applause, a crowd who clearly did not like seeing the commissioner.

This of course would reduce the preseason by game from three to two.

I understand the idea, the boorish nature of the pre-season backups instead of the stars, but it's

forgetting a crucial part of why it exists, giving the players on the roster 54 through 90 a chance the undrafted free agent the seventh round

pick trying to stick the underdog special team are hoping to make a play block a punt

return a kick earned earn a job.

Fewer games means fewer chances and the long odds become even more impossible.

So for Grudell to flippantly wave his hand and go, isn't the pre-season the worst, is a slap in the face to literally thousands of

players trying to make their team. That's not the posture a commissioner should

take and that

the reality should be reckoned with before the NFL moves to their 18 game season.
