The Pittsburgh Steelers signing safety to Sean Elliot was not the flashiest nor the most

headline-grabbing move the team is made in the past week,

Russell Wilson, Patrick Queen, and the Dante Johnson trade all top but in the Whoa factor.

But Elliot is a solid value signing and key scheme fit. Pittsburgh

needed in every down strong safety opposite of making Fitzpatrick, someone who could play in the

box and allow Fitzpatrick to play in space,

something he could not do enough of last season.

Instead of rotating between two safeties as the team did last year with the Monte

Casey and Keon-Unile,, Elliot is the guy every now.

And that helps with chemistry and not needing two people to do one job.

Pittsburgh could have aimed higher than Elliot, but they did not have to. Pittsburgh just needed a solid presence at strong

safety that did not require breaking the bank. And in a weak draft class, the free agent

market was the ticket and they at least got younger at the position.

Overall, bringing in Elliot will not be the signing of the year, but it hits the right notes.
