With a number of roster moves occurring around the league, putting some notable experienced veterans on the open market this week, the focus shifts slightly

from draft preparations to free agency preparations, at least for me.

My free agency preparations have landed me on a couple of names that I'd

really like the Steelers to land on the open market. One, of course, is

linebacker Jerome Baker, who was released by the Miami Dolphins earlier in the week.

The Steelers had interest in him coming out of Ohio State in the 2018 NFL draft,

and he's still just 28 years old. He'd be a good addition to the linebacker room and could be that

answer if the team has been searching for at the position for so long since the days of Ryan

Chazir.

The other name, though, that I've circled on my wish list

happens to be a Pittsburgh native.

One that fans should know well.

That would be safety Jordan Whitehead. After two seasons with the New York Jets, Whitehead is back on the open market and should be quite affordable.

On the field, he can play in the box, in the slot, or at deep safety, which would play well next to Minka Fitzpatrick,

letting the All-Pro roam around again in his playmaking ways.

Whitehead, a Central Valley High School graduate and a former Pitt Panther star is just 27 years old.

Andy has 5,469 career snaps under his belt in the NFL.

He's tormented the Steelers in the past

match-ups too, including two interceptions at Accenture Stadium in 2022.
