Most of what Omar Khan had to say during his Thursday media rounds weren't all too surprising. Showing Faith in Kenny Pickett, exploring all

avenues to help the team, a good draft class, all standard stuff. What caught me off guard and maybe that's my fault not to teams was his urgency and upgrading inside

linebacker.

Quote we have to address it was his comment.

Ideally my thinking spin the Steelers would like to upgrade it but with so many

other needs it felt like less of a priority. However Khan noted the team isn't even

sure when Cole Holcomb would return. Heck, they didn't even guarantee that he would return.

Holcomb suffered a serious knee injury in week nine last year and while we knew it was bad, we never learned its full extent.

The fact there's no timetable, months removed from the injury, is a major red flag.

And with that understanding certainly makes the position one that goes from a bit of a want to total and utter need.

It's why the Steelers held formal meetings with many of the draft's top offball

linebackers including Clemson's Jeremiah Trotter

and Texas A&M's Eddron Cooper.

So if you're like me, downplaying the idea at Tad

before, it's time to change course and hop on the inside linebacker train.
