Cam Hayward is undoubtedly one of the most beloved and respected players on the Steeler's

roster.

A defensive team captain for nine consecutive

seasons, a six-time pro-Bolar, a three-time first-team all-pro, and 2023

Walter Payton man of the year, not to mention that he's tied with linebacker James Harrison

for second most sacks in team history.

He also hosts the popular podcast, Not Just Football.

What's not to love?

And yet somehow, fans got under the defensive linemen's skin this past week.

According to his post on his Instagram story, Hayward underwent surgery about a week ago.

He appeared in the photo in a hospital bed with a comment,

Surgery finally done, ready to get back to feeling good.

A mere four days later, Hayward was taking to Twitter,

bemoaning the trials of getting hurt and killing himself to get back to play despite not being 100%,

only to have to hear about people wanting him to retire.

He finished with, quote, at least I know where y'all stand.

Y'all quick to forget when I am healthy, but I look forward to reminding

y'all."

Immediately following the Wildcart round playoff loss, Hayward wouldn't commit to his plans for

next season, but it only took a couple of days for
