For Steelers fans, the biggest story of Super Bowl weekend would probably be TJWatt getting passed over

for defensive player of the year.

Not much can be said that hasn't already.

But for two Steelers players, it was a chance to be recognized for what they do off the

field.

After six years as the team's Walter Payton man of the year

nominee, Cam Hayward finally got his much deserved recognition and the award.

Much less expected and equally impressive was his teammate make of Patrick who was voted by his peers to win the Bart Star Award at the

Super Bowl breakfast yesterday morning.

He was introduced by his head coach Mike Tomlin.

Teammate Miles Kilibru and former teammate Robert Spillane were in attendance to support their friend.

If you're not familiar with this award, you're not alone.

Originally presented in 1989, the annual award is sponsored by Athletes in Action a

sports ministry to the player who best exemplifies outstanding character and

leadership in the home on the field and in the community.

Minkofitz Patrick has been dominant on the field since he was a five-star recruit in high school.

From a Vans perspective, he seems to lead more by example.

We rarely hear much from him other than limited comments during media availability.

It was a fun departure from his normally reserved public persona when he joined Kim Hayward's

not just football podcast during training camp last year. Accepting the award, Minka opened up more than we have ever seen.
