Welcome to the terrible take and many podcast telling Steelers Nation what's on our mind.

I'm Josh Carney. As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers retained

0:09.6

defensive coordinator Terrell Austin Wednesday, signing him to a new two-year deal to remain the

0:14.4

coordinator for the Steelers moving forward.

0:17.1

Yet for some reason, the fan base and even some in the media are up in arms regarding

0:22.3

the decision for Austin to return.

0:25.6

That reason?

0:26.6

Well, it escapes me because it makes no sense why anyone could be upset with the move. Austin, to his credit, did a good job during the 2023 season,

1:19.1

1:26.1

23, and 10 points in the final three games of the regular season. Sure, the defense was carved

1:31.8

up in the wild card loss to the bills, but missed tackles, poor

1:35.2

execution, and missing TJ Watt really hindered them.

1:40.9

Hard to blame Austin for that. It might not be the move everyone wanted, but it is the right move.

1:48.0

Continuity is key on the defensive side of the football. Austin did nothing to even put his job in jeopardy.
