Historically, without Star Outside Linebacker TJWatt in the lineup, the Pittsburgh Steelers

are a, well, disaster.

I'm talking 1 in 10 all time disaster.

Without Watt in the lineup, the Steelers are a completely different team.

So, with the Steelers missing Watt in the Wild Card Round matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, you aren't

exactly alone if you're concerned for the Steelers. However, the depth behind Watt that the Steelers have built up this season,

with the likes of veteran Marcus Golden and rookie Nick Herbig,

should alleviate some of those concerns with their star pass Russia out of the lineup.

It's not like in years past when the Steelers were asking guys like Malik Reed, Derek Tusk,

Ola Adani, and even Cassius Marsh to handle extended snaps and give the Steelers solid reps off the edge.

This year, Golden has really flashed when given extended looks defensively.

He has four sacks on the season despite playing just

230 snaps. That's good for just over 20% of the Steelers defensive snaps. This is

a guy that coming into the year had 47 career sacks.

Then there's also rookie Nick Herbig, who has emerged as an impressive pass-rusher,

showcasing some high-end pass-rush skills. On the year he has three sacks and two

forced fumbles in just a hundred and ninety one defensive snaps. He's done all that

in just under 17% of the snaps the Steelers have played defensively.

That's quite impressive.

The production was there this season for Golden and Herbig when given the opportunity.
