Just a few short weeks ago, former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Merrill Hodge raised some

eyebrows when he criticized the Steelers

tight ends for looking like well two turtles humping when trying to block.

His words not mine. They weren't exactly inaccurate either. At the time

Pat Friarmouth was a complete zero as a blocker and rookie Darnell

Washington was really struggling despite that being his calling card coming out of Georgia.

Fast forward a few weeks though and it's quite clear that the tight ends heard the criticism and they've responded in a major way.

Against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday the Steelers tight ends got after it in the run game

helping Pittsburgh thrive on the ground dominating from start to finish in the 30 to 23 win over Seattle,

keeping the playoff hopes alive.

In recent weeks, as the Steelers have gotten back on track,

the Run game has played a key rule.

Against Seattle, Pittsburgh utilized quite a bit of 13 personnel,

keeping the Seahawks honest from a passing game perspective,

while also being able to run out of a number of looks.

At times this season, 13 personnel really wasn't fathomable because the Steelers simply couldn't operate out of it.

That's changed in recent weeks though, and it's come at a perfect time too.

Having three tight end on the field, all of which can handle their owners as blockers right now, has helped the Steelers

run game take off, making Pittsburgh a formidable offensive attack that is balanced.
