When it comes to the secondary of the Pittsburgh Steelers, much of the attention has been focused,

and rightfully so, on the development of rookie

cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Porter has taken off in recent weeks, grabbing a hold of the true number one role in Pittsburgh, becoming a legitimate

lockdown corner along the way. He still has some things to clean up, but the future

looks very, very bright for Porter.

Lost in the bright lights of Porter's development in strong play has been the steady presence

of Patrick Peterson, who has really played some strong football down the stretch, all while moving around much more than he previously had defensively.

In the first month of the season, Peterson was getting picked on by opposing offenses.

He allowed a QB rating of 114.0 when targeted in weeks 1 through 4.

Then from week 5 to now, Peterson's quarterback rating allowed when targeted is spectacular.

He's also moving around a bunch and wearing many hats for the Steelers, which is what they were hoping from him when they signed him in free agency away from the Minnesota Vikings to replace Cameron Sutton.

According to Steelers Depot's Alex Kizora and is charting for the site,

Peterson has aligned in eight different positions this season, including most recently playing free safety against the Cincinnati Bengals

due to injuries that left the Steelers short-handed at the position.

He rose up to the challenge and had a big interception in the week 16 win over the Bengals.

Playing a position he doesn't have that much familiarity with.

He stated when he signed with the Steelers that their biggest reason was because he wanted

the opportunity to move around and be a true football player and do different things defensively.
