Mike Tomlin said at best in his post-game press conference as he announced at Landon Roberts

Pectoral injury. He said the team is snake bitten at the position.

They came into the year with a solid three-man rotation of Kwan Alexander,

Cole Holcomb, Annie Landon Roberts and had Mark Robinson as a developmental fourth

with special team's upside. Holcombe and Alexander suffered season ending injuries

in back-to-back weeks against the Packers and Titans and Roberts just

suffered a Peck injury that by the sound of Tomlin's comments could hold him out

for some time. For the last month, the Steelers have had inside linebacker Miles Jack

on their practice squad.

They signed him on November 20th after the Philadelphia Eagles

waived him off their reserve retired list.

Of course, Jack played for the Steelers last season and had over 100

tackles. Various injuries derailed his season and saw him release before he could finish out his two-year

contract. But the defensive coordinator has not changed in Pittsburgh and so he came in with meaningful experience within the system

What took the Steelers so long to get Jack involved?

They have been relying primarily on Michael Walker, who also came off the practice

squad and Mark Robinson alongside Roberts. The result of that has been the Steelers

getting gashed by running backs and tight ends up the middle of their defense.

Yeah, Jack was retired a little over a month ago and certainly

was not in football shape, but he told the media on November 22nd shortly after signing

that he thought he could be in football shape by week's end.
