I'm Josh Carney coming off of two very poor losses to the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin finds himself

under the microscope when it comes to the fan base and local media in the Steel City.

His seat might be getting a bit toasty and rightfully so. Those were two very woeful losses for the

black and gold. They simply can't happen. Yet they did. But while he's under fire for many for the way the team lost those two games in a four-day span,

he's drawing my ire for one comment he made Monday to reporters during his weekly press conference ahead of the Week 15 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

It had to do with the failed fourth and two play at the end of the game in which quarterback

Mitch Trebisky threw deep to wide receiver Deontay Johnson, leading to an

in completion a turnover on downs and ultimately cost the Steelers the

football game.

Tomlin stated that the result of the play, that being an incompletion and a turnover on downs, dictates the perspective.

That's fair, but then Tomlin doubled down by trying to compare it to the Week 5 41-yard touchdown

pass from Kenny Pickett to George Pickens, late against the Baltimore Ravens, helping lift

the Steelers to a win.

The problem there is that there is no comparison at all between the two.

That touchdown from Pickett to Pickens was the second and nine from the Baltimore 41,

not fourth and two from the Steelers 49 yard line, needing just two yards,

two yards to get a new set of downs. The second in nine against Baltimore wasn't a

do-or-die situation either. There's a fine line between being aggressive and

reckless. And quite honestly, the Steelers were flat

out reckless against the Patriots in that situation. You can be going for the win. You should

be, you play to win the game, as Hermann Edwards once said.
