Listening to Eddie Faulkner's press conference yesterday, he made one revealing

and to me critical comment.

First, it was good just to hear a normal presser, one that did not revolve around the guy the team just fired with really just speculation of how the offense would

look with Faulkner as the interim OC, though Mike Sullivan is the Steelers play caller.

Still, there was a game to talk about football to be had instead of the craziness

last week understandably brought. What Faulkner said that really struck me was the offense

having success against the Bengals building credibility

to his message for that room in Pittsburgh.

Though the Steelers still had their issues, the offense had a spark.

You can blame it on the Bengal's weaker defense to me that

only tells part of the story but it doesn't really matter. Faulkner's message he

preached ended with results that makes his message stronger to the rest of the room

going forward. The running backs knew the caliber of coach he was but the

receivers the O-line is a little more buy-in needed. For coaches, trust and credibility are everything.

Trust what I'm doing and saying is the right path. Here are the results that show

if you follow what I say, if you stick to the plan, we will succeed.

He has that, him and Sullivan, right out of the gate.

That seemed to be one issue with Mack Canada.

Players may have liked him, but did they believe him, did they buy his

message? Given the results, how could they? There had to have been some doubt. Per Faulkner, the Steelers offense will likely ebb and flow, but one game in, you can bet he has the players full attention. That's going to go a long way.
