I made my dissertation focus, which was our first interview together, was on my dissertation,

was on looking at LDS women

and their experience of sexual agency

growing up in a patriarchal religion

and framing of their face and their identity and so on and so looking at the

ways that women within the LDS church experience sexuality and choice and self-hood.

And so a lot of my work has been really around working

within the meaning frames that many LDS clients inherit

and how it impacts their sense of self and identity and

sexuality and helping couples within that meaning frame to create stronger relationships

to themselves and to one another and so on. So anyway that's the work I do.

And briefly, how would you maybe take a few bullet points from what you've learned working with

this population that would really kind of apply to a lot of people

and especially a lot of people maybe coming out of more religiously conservative backgrounds

because I feel like there's a lot of similarities.

Yeah, well one of the things I think in just in general is that part of the kind of

of human developmental experience and this is partly my training with Dr. Schnarsh is that you know we start out from a framing of what do other people want from me.

What makes me be a legitimate self in this community.

And so we're highly attuned to what is expected of us.
