Mackenzie Speth Luke was born on March 8, 1986, and raised in El Segundo, California.

An active young girl, who played on her high school's water polo team and was on their swim team,

McKenzie went on to attend the University of Utah,

where she majored in kinesiology and pre-nursing, all while being a member of the school's chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and holding down a job at a Salt Lake City Biological Testing Company.

With plans on having a career in health sciences, McKenzie was talking with her advisors about going to nursing school or medical school and had a projected graduation date of May 2020.

The 23-year-old had so much life ahead of her and so many dreams she wanted to achieve.

Yet, due to the actions of one man, she would never get the

chance to see any of it come to fruition. In the early morning hours of June 17, 2019, Mackenzie

Luke arrived at the Salt Lake City International Airport after a trip back to California for her

grandmother's funeral. texting her mother at 201 a.m. to let her know that she landed safely.
