Well, it's that time of year again.

Everybody's starting to think about the presidential election,

and I'm just still sitting here on my lonesome,

thinking about Plato's Republic.

Okay, welcome back to young Herritics, and welcome also, I think, to life inside my head.

I'm recording this on a Monday, which means it's the date of the Iowa Republican primary election.

Everybody's talking about is Donald Trump going to win as handily as it seems he's

going to as somebody else is going to

speak out a victory, Ron DeSantis, Nicki Aigley, who's gonna pull ahead and it's

very snowy it's apparently the coldest I think Iowa primary on record here in Nashville. We are having our annual

snow day where snowed in with this big blizzard. It's as big as it's ever been since I moved here which I'm sort of enjoying

watching the snow fall outside my window it's probably miserable if you have to fight your way to

a polling station and I'm just trying to think about a way to explain to you guys why I does not care.

I does not care about these primaries.

I wish I could care. I want to care. I don't want to come

across as saying that politics don't matter, that this election isn't important,

that's not what I believe at all you know I do care

about politics watch politics work at a think tank where politics is

front and center a lot of the time and I've argued before that whatever high beautiful principles you may espouse you do at some

point have to make certain decisions, perform certain actions.

So it's not a matter of indifference who you vote for elections haven't lost their meaning or significance even at this late stage.

All of that remains true.
