This is part two of our two-part series, The Strange Death of Jose de Jesús.

In this series, we've been telling the story of Jose de Jesús de Niz Saoun.

He was founded at the Iloy Immigration Detention Facility in Arizona in 2015 with a sock stuffed

down his throat.

Jose de Jesús, Marlon Bishop, Fernanda Chavari, and myself, first reported our investigation

about his death in 2016, as a way to tell a larger story about the conditions inside

these immigration detention facilities.

It's been four years since then, but Jose's story is more relevant than ever.

Around 40 immigrants have died in detention since President Trump took office, bringing

the total to over 200 since 2004.

When we left off last week, we had just received a package in the mail containing surveillance

footage from the Iloy detention facility from the exact day that Jose de Jesús died.

We had requested it from the local police department.

We hoped it would provide us with some clues as to exactly what happened to Jose de Jesús.
