I've told you all quite a few stories about the time period surrounding World War II.

We've talked a lot about the German dictator and tyrant Adolf Hitler and his evil vendetta

I've also told you a few stories about the part of World War II that was fought against the Japanese

in the Pacific Ocean. Well, today's story takes place after World War II had been won by the

Allied forces. Germany had surrendered on V.E. Day, which stands for Victory in Europe

on May 8, 1945. Japan had stubbornly refused to give up for three more months and it wasn't until

two atom bombs were dropped on two cities in Japan that Emperor Hirohito finally gave up.

At the same time that the Allied forces led by the Americans forced Japan's unconditional

surrender, the Soviet army was invading Japan's held territory in Manchuria, China.

But the Soviet leader Stalin had ulterior motives for this massive invasion.

He wanted to spread his communist agenda as far and wide as possible.

Manchuria wasn't the only place Japanese held territory came into question.

By the time World War II was wrapped up, the United States and Great Britain had become
