There has to be a better way.

In reading many of the first hand accounts, this was the statement that was said so often

by the late Steve Jobs that it became a mantra and really a dogma that Steve led himself

in Apple with.

Steve was never good enough for Steve.

Steve never stopped pushing for excellence.

He kept raising the bar, higher and higher and higher.

He kept pushing himself and everybody else around him.

Reportedly, he would repeat the mantra, there has to be a better way.

Dozens of times in a single 30 minute meeting.

He then would add, repetition doesn't destroy the prayer.

Excellence was Steve's religion and perpetually pushing for it was his worship.

Pushing for constant and never-ending excellence can become exhausting.

It can cause many people who couldn't handle it to quit Apple.

To this, Steve would say, most people aren't used to an environment where excellence is

expected.

But the best did stay with it and they thrived in an environment of excellence and high expectations.
