Welcome to Political Thinking 2 words, which increasingly sounds like an oxymoron.

It does feel that at the time when it's needed most, we are getting precious little political

thinking.

Our future relationship with Europe, something the country's agonised about for decades

and not settled, something which remember will not be settled, even if we do leave the

EU on time or stay in, is now being reduced to mere shouted slogans.

Both of them produced tuts, muttering, too crude, too divisive, too lacking in political

thinking.

But of course all of that misses the point.

In the social media age discourse is reduced to a three-letter word.

The more controversial something is, the more it shared, the more it's liked, and crucially,

the more it is noticed by the parts of the electorate that the politicians struggle to

reach.

Now Jeremy Corbyn seems intent on avoiding this for three years.

He's had a policy on Europe that it's been hard to summarise in a paragraph with multiple

sub-closes, but he knows he's got to say something at the election, which is coming and coming
