vast wasteland.

So Schwartz named the boat of his new sitcom Gilligan's Island, the SS Meno.

Did you know that during the opening sequence of the first season, when the theme song is

being played, an American flag can be seen flying at half-staff as the SS Meno is leaving

the harbor?

That's because the final day of filming for the pilot was done on, November 22, 1963,

the day that President John F. Kennedy was shot.

No one knew him as the skipper, but the skipper's real name was Jonas Grumby.
