Summary

1:15.1	As you might have noticed, many of the things I cover do seem to start out in oral history,
1:20.6	and as such, they're very susceptible to disappearing over time if nobody chronicles those tales.
1:27.8	And that's really why folklores like Wyndham and Roberts have become such staples in this
1:35.4	field.
1:36.6	I mean, in all honesty, what they did even sort of paved the way for podcasters like me.
1:44.5	That being said, while Wyndham and Roberts were certainly two of the most prolific, they
1:51.2	weren't the only ones by any means.
1:55.2	Almost every state in the South has been lucky enough to have someone to fill this role of story bearer or folklore
2:04.1	collector. And for the state of West Virginia, that individual was Ruth Ann Music. Born in
2:12.7	Kirksville, Missouri in 1897, music went to school to become a teacher, and it was while earning her
2:20.2	Ph.D. in English at the State University of Iowa that her interest in folklore truly began to take
