Hello my friends I'm Deepak Chopra this is daily breath. The word mantra has two components to it.

Man, the root sound of the word mind.

Or also actually it's the root sound of the word human, woman, man, etc.

Thinking beings, man.

Trah is the root sound of the word instrument.

So mantra literally means an instrument of the mind

that takes us beyond the mind.

In the wisdom tradition of Vedanta, which is what I follow. Sounds found in nature are actually, in a sense, the mantras of nature.

These are vibrations of the world around us. The sound of wind rustling through

trees, the sound of thunder and lightning, the sound of a rushing brook, the sound of a waterfall, the sound of a cricket,

the sound of birds singing.

These are all mantras of nature. What they are are vibrations. They are the means

through which infinite potential expresses itself as manifest vibration.

Thoughts are vibrations of consciousness, feelings are vibrations of consciousness.

Perceptions are vibrations of consciousness.

Sensations are vibrations of consciousness. So think of mantras as

vibrations of consciousness also with a particular connection to fundamental or expanded or universal intelligence or consciousness.

When vibration interacts with vibration, somehow we experience it as sensation.

When for example you kick a rock with your foot.

The basic sensation is hardness.

When you touch a feather, the basic sensation is softness.
