Summary

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!

We explore the eerie halls of White Hill Mansion in Fieldsboro, New Jersey—a place where history and mystery intertwine. Built in 1722 by Robert Field, this grand estate has sheltered everyone from Hessian soldiers to gangsters, earning it a storied reputation. During the American Revolution, Mary Peel Field welcomed both Colonial and Hessian troops, safeguarding the mansion from destruction. Yet, the most intriguing guests are the ones who never truly left. Visitors have reported shadowy figures and chilling encounters, adding to White Hill’s legend as one of New Jersey’s most haunted locations. Prepare to be captivated by tales of strange apparitions and restless spirits lurking behind every door.

Today, on this classic episode of the Grave Talks, Part One of our conversation with Event Coordinator Dawn Reichard about the mysteries of White Hill Mansion, where history and hauntings intertwine and the echoes of the past refuse to be silenced. This is Part Two of our conversation.

Now, have you heard about the paranormal reports of the paranormal, I should phrase it that way, quite a while back?

0:19.8

Is this been something that people have kind of talked about for quite a while in association

0:26.7

with the White Hill Mansion?

0:29.6

No.

0:30.8

So here's the weird thing.

0:32.8

When I started volunteering there, I had so many need experiences and I had gone to the board at the time.

0:39.6

And I was like, listen, I would really like to start like a paranormal program, let people come in here and experiment.

It'll help you fundraise. Because I don't know. I'm sure your listeners know this. It is extremely hard to get grant money for historic houses. There's a lot of competition

0:56.6

out there. And most of these grants are matching grants, which means you have to be able to raise

1:01.7

money to match the grants you get. So it's not like someone's going to give you a million dollars

1:06.4

to fix up a really cool historic house. You have to match that money. So you have to be able to raise

1:12.5

money. So what's a great way to raise money? Oh my gosh, this place is actually haunted.

1:17.5

You know, let's try to share that with people. And they thought it was nuts. It actually took about

1:23.3

14 months for me to convince them. Finally, they said, okay, well, started on a limited. So we did like

1:29.8

one or two a year. So it took a long time for that kind of to grow. But during this time,

1:35.6

we started talking to people. So we met people who were busboys, who were waitresses that had

1:41.3

came to visit the restaurant who had lived there before.

1:45.0

There was a couple different owners in the last couple years that the restaurant was going.

1:50.0

And every now and then, we would get a story from them about how kids were playing upstairs while their parents were in the bar working as a bartender or whatever,

2:02.8

and they would have an experience.

2:05.7

We had a waitress who came in who had an experience.
