Hello and welcome to this sleep story from Abide.

My name is Jennifer, and it's my pleasure to lead you in tonight's story called The Spirit of God Sustains Me.

Tonight, we will be meditating on the amazing knowledge that the Spirit of the Holy and

Living God sustains us moment by moment.

Though he holds the universe in his hands, he also gives us each inhalation and exhalation by his grace and power.

The Bible passage that will be springboarding our story tonight is from Job 33-4, which says,

The Spirit of God has made me. The breath of the Almighty gives me life.

And he goes on to say in Job 34 verses 14 and 15,

If it were his intention and he withdrew his spirit and breath,

all humanity would perish together and mankind would return to the dust.

Although the speaker, Elihu, may have been compelled to speak out of a twisted heart and resentful

motives, we can testify that he is not wrong.

The Holy Spirit of God tirelessly sustains our every breath.

Yet as David says in Psalm 8, verse 4,

What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?

Yet you made them a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.
