The Hi everybody. Welcome to another episode of Dr. Matt and Dr. Mike's medical podcast. I'm Dr. Mike Todorovich. I'm joined by my co-host Dr. Matt Barton. How are you, Matt?

I'm well. How's things? Yeah, I'm okay. Not too bad. Not too bad. Today we're going to be talking

about spinal cord and with the spinal cord we are going to be talking about a number of important

points because the spinal cord is an extremely

important part of human anatomy. Matt, when you think of the spinal cord, what comes to mind?

It's part of the central nervous system. Good, good start. Which is brain and spinal cord.

All right. But the spinal cord, how I kind of imagine it, is like an elevator.

So the brain is the penthouse.

A really big tower, and there's an elevator that's going up to the penthouse and then back down the other floors.

So that's the spinal cord.

So it's kind of taken information from the brain down the spinal cord to the body

and from the body up the spinal cord or elevator to the brain or the penthouse.

That's not a bad analogy.

I think of a highway in which you can travel up and down the highway

and you can take various exits off the highway depending on where you want

to go. So I mean, yours is okay. Mine's pretty good. All right, let's just take your analogy.

So how many, in my building, my apartment block with a penthouse, I've got 31 floors.

Okay. How many exit points in your freeway?

Well, I'd have to say 31 either side of the freeway.

Okay, both sides.

Both sides, yeah.
