The building has been standing for generations, used for the same work by different people who came and went—though many stayed for most of their lives. It’s the kind of place where routine mattered, where time was measured in shifts and decades rather than years.

During the day, it feels ordinary. Loud, industrial, functional. It’s after hours that things begin to feel off.

Sounds carry through empty sections of the building that don’t match what’s happening—metal tapping, tools being set down, the familiar noises of work continuing when no one is there. Motion-activated lights switch on in sequence, as if someone is moving through the aisles. Heavy materials are found out of place, moved without a clear cause.

None of it feels aggressive. None of it demands attention. It simply suggests use—like the building never quite learned how to stop. And once you notice that, it’s hard to walk through it the same way again.
