Hi there and welcome back to the Porpo's Almanac. I'm your host, Andy, and today we have one of our first, possibly our first repeat guests, Peter Gelderlose.

Since we spoke last year, he's written a book titled The Solutions Are Already Here, Strategies for Ecological Solutions from Below, published by Pluto Press.

The book highlights the shortfalls of capitalism in finding solutions for climate change and points to

hundreds of examples of resistance across the globe, while diving deep into various examples

which we can view to find new tools for resistance. Fair warning, we had some internet issues

during the interview, so I apologize if any of the episode seems a little disjointed, or if

there are moments of poor sound quality.

We were able to figure it out eventually. You can find Peter on Twitter, and his book is

available at most places online. I'm sure y'all will enjoy this conversation. I always walk

But we're here to talk about one of your books today.

So I don't know if you could just tell us a quick little snippet about your book

and maybe a little bit why you decided it was important to write.

So, yeah, my latest book is The Solutions Are Already Here, and obviously it's not a surprising

position to think that climate change or the ecological crisis are really large and urgent

problems, and it's also not that uncommon these days, once again, to be critical of

or totally opposed to capitalism. Something that has very much been worrying me, aside from all

of just the horribly devastating effects of capitalism on human society and on the life systems of the planet and all the other living things on the planet,

is that the way we're being taught to understand the ecological crisis and to respond to it
